One of the foremost Tibetan Buddhist Masters of the twentieth century. His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang is His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama’s philosophical assistant and later His junior tutor for more than forty years along with the senior tutor Kyabje Ling Rinpoche. Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang was one of the great disciples of the late Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche.

The spread of Dharma in the west is directly and indirectly associated with Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang, through his own teachings and through his many eminent disciples. His Holiness Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang was born on March 10th, 1901. Through his precious activities and extraordinary teaching method he benefited the Buddha’s teaching and countless beings. Up to the end of his life, he continuously turned the wheel of Dharma for the sake of all sentient beings until he breathed his last. His Holiness Trijang Dorje Chang passed away at the age of eighty one, leaving behind his great teachings and written works. All the first generation Geshes and great Rinpoches of the Gelug tradition who have been responsible for spreading the Dharma in the west were his disciples. Read More

Master Nenghai

Nenghai (1886-1967) was born in Mianzhu district, Sichuan province. An orphan, he was raised by his elder sister and worked as an apprentice in a workshop in Chengdu until he entered the army in 1905. About ten years later, he began to study Buddhism with Zhang Kecheng, professor Buddhist literature and philosophy at Beijing University. He wanted to enter the Buddhist Sangha, but his sister persuaded him to wait until he had fathered a male child. Read More
